Visit Hsinchu County Jian Shi Junior High School

The relationship between Elite and Jian Shi team first came from the Director-General of Bigfoot Running Assoc., Mr. Yang. While Elite’s President Chiang was participating in Ten Years Million Trees Project in Inner Mongolia, a CSR activity held under the Aisin Group, an international call from Mr. Yang about helping kids find lodging begins this new friendship.
Mr. Hsieh, graduated from NTUS, went back home to teach after military service. Besides teaching, as a middle-distance runner, he also took part in road races. During his usual training, some students would run with him. When the school saw groups of students interested in running, they decided to start a running team. Mr. Hsieh found out that some students have a gift for running, in order to bring out their talents, he did some home visits, persuaded their parents and volunteered to be team coach.
Jian Shi Junior High School is located in rural areas. The weather on the mountain is ever-changing, with practicing time limited, Mr. Hsieh took the team players home, trying to buy more practicing time at dawn. Additionally, he dug into his pocket for running gear for the students. He also attached importance to character education. After few years of practicing, those shiny gold medals earned from the students proofed their hard work.
Exercise, can change one’s life for the better. Through running, they build up their own future. President Chiang was deeply moved by the story of a passionate teacher and his students. From then on, when the team moves to Taichung for training, not only will they communicate with Elite’s road run team, but also Elite will be Jian Shi track team strongest backup.
